SCRIPTURE
Psalm 37:7
Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act.
PRAYER
Oh Lord, why do we find ourselves waiting again? How long, oh Lord, how long? When will you act? Does the waiting ever stop? These are the questions that simmer in ______’s heart Lord. He longs for an answer. Sometimes even “no” seems better than “wait”. I ask that just now, you would give rest to his deepest place, Oh Lord. Just as you calmed the storm, speak stillness to the anxious waves of his heart. Reach out, and put your hand on his shoulder. Look into his eyes and tell him that it will be ok. Steady him with your strong, calming arm. Sit close to him until he stills. Relax his mind, and give it the rest that only you can give. And as your closeness overwhelms him, and stillness presides, I ask that patient faith would emerge. Lord, I pray that waiting would become an anticipation of faith rather than a drudgery of longsuffering. I ask that the assurance of your coming action would transform waiting from restless to restful. May he be so consumed by your presence, that the moments of waiting actually seem sweet to his soul. And Lord, I pray with all my heart that one day, he will see you clearly act, and the waiting will be over. Amen and Amen.
ENCOURAGEMENT
When you enter the Promised Land, it will be worth the wait. That’s a promise.
